Churchill Park & Birch Avenue

Our northern technicians recently wrapped up a $1.3 million lighting upgrade at the Churchill Park and Birch Avenue Soccer Grounds in Launceston.

The City of Launceston project included the upgrading of lights to four soccer pitches, as well as new 25m poles, footings, crossarms light fittings, cabling and all associated works, and upgrades to several existing poles.

It was an extremely tight turnaround for this project, with the grounds shortlisted as a base camp for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

They weren’t selected in the end, but the upgrades are hugely exciting for Launceston’s soccer community and a credit to all our staff involved.

Project Manager, Josh Alexander, said our site manager, Nathan Edwards, deserved a special shoutout for his site management, communication and safety documentation, which was exceptional.

This is one of several sporting ground upgrades Contact Group has carried out in recent months.

Our southern technicians are currently completing a lighting upgrade at Ferguson Oval in Pontville for the Brighton Council.
