lighting solutions

Contact Group’s Electrical Services Team offer lighting automation designs and installation services. We have fully trained staff in the areas of C-Bus and DALI lighting control systems having carried our numerous installations throughout the state. We are certified Clipsal Platinum members, which means we can pass on extended Clipsal warranties to our customers on their C-Bus installations.

Where possible, Contact Group utilise energy efficient technologies such as LED or induction tube based fittings to reduce energy cost and greenhouse gas emissions. Our staff can also audit existing lighting systems offering recommendations and installation of energy efficient alternatives whilst maintaining or improving light quality as part of our Electrical Services.

In conjunction with our engineers and draftsman we are able to design, supply, install and commission internal and external lighting installations to comply with all relevant Australian Standards and Building Code of Australia requirements.

We have the capacity to interface lighting control with multiple other services including nurse call systems, security systems and building management systems.

Hazardous area works

Contact Group have fully trained and certified electricians that can undertake electrical services in areas that have been classified to be hazardous areas.

These areas include:

• Fuel Stations/Gas plants

• Confined Space entry works areas

• Gas plant distribution boards

• Explosive toxic environments

Body protection areas

These areas are designed for procedures in which patients are connected to equipment that lowers the natural resistance of the skin. Applied parts such as electrode gels, conductive fluids entering the patient, metal needles and catheters provide an easy pathway for current to flow.

The main occurrence of injury from Body-Type procedures is from high current levels causing electric shock. A direct connection to the patient’s heart is not present so the risk of ‘Microelectrocution’ – fibrillation from minute current levels – is reduced.

Residual Current Devices (RCD), Isolation Transformers and Line Isolation Monitors (LIM’s), are used in Body Protected areas to provide protection against electrocution from high leakage currents. Body-Protected Areas are identified with this sign.

Cardiac Protected Areas

Where the procedure involves placing an electrical conductor within or near the heart, protection against fibrillation induced from small leakage currents is required. Electrical conductors used in these procedures include cardiac pacing electrodes, intracardiac ECG electrodes and intracardiac catheters.

Equipotential earthing in conjunction with RCD’s or LIM’s provides protection against microelectrocution in Cardiac-Type procedures.

Fault currents are reduced to magnitudes that are unlikely to induce fibrillation. Used in conjunction with RCD’s or LIM’s, the magnitude and duration of any fault currents sourced from equipment are limited.

Cardiac-Protected Areas are identified with this sign.

Annual Compliance Testing

Contact Group have specialised trained staff throughout the state that have achieved competency to test and certify patient areas to AS/NZ 3003. Annual testing of patient areas is a mandatory requirement of this standards. It is your obligation to ensure it is tested within a 12 month period. Once the testing is complete we provide you with a set of comprehensive test results and a yearly compliance certificate. We can give you a no obligation quote to undertake these tests at your convenience.

Patient area certification services

If you have a patient area that has been in use for quite some years and that was certified under an old version of the standard we can re-certify these areas to the new standard to ensure the area is up to the current AS/NZ 3003 Standard

We also provide certification to any new patient areas and cover both Body Protected Areas and Cardiac Protected Areas.
