In December 2025, our Launceston technicians completed a highly technical upgrade of the Campbell Town Hospital’s Nurse Call system, marking a significant improvement to critical communication and safety infrastructure at the site.
The team was onsite for approximately six months at the 26-bed hospital, which is a hive of activity and an integral part of the rural community. Working within a live healthcare environment required careful planning, flexibility, and a strong focus on minimising disruption to patients and staff while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
Our highly experienced technicians supplied and installed a new Hills Nurse Call System, along with a new Intercom System, upgraded Wi-Fi infrastructure, a Honeywell Access Control System, and a new CCTV system. Together, these upgrades provide improved reliability, enhanced security, and more efficient communication throughout the hospital.
The project also included the installation of two new 45RU communications racks and one new 18RU rack. This aspect of the upgrade proved particularly challenging due to the hospital’s heritage buildings, which presented space and access constraints. With roof space extremely limited, the team successfully ran over 400 data cables, carefully navigating existing structures while preserving the integrity of the buildings.
In addition to the hospital works, the team carried out a switchboard upgrade to the staff accommodation buildings, which house locum doctors and nursing staff. This ensured the electrical infrastructure supporting these facilities met current requirements and provided improved reliability for staff living onsite.
Throughout the project, the technicians remained highly sensitive to the demands of working in an operational hospital environment. Over time, they became familiar faces to many patients and staff, building strong working relationships and earning trust through their professionalism, courtesy, and attention to detail. The successful completion of this complex upgrade reflects the team’s technical expertise, adaptability, and commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes in even the most challenging environments.
