Congratulations to our Hobart branch which recently completed a $1.7-million contract with Yunex Traffic to install the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and CCTV on the new Bridgewater Bridge.
The new four-lane bridge, which is the state’s largest ever infrastructure project, opened to traffic in June this year.
It involved the installation of over 42-thousand metres of cable, three large Variable Message Signs (VMS), 24 Variable Speed Limit Signs (VSLS), Lane Use Management Signs, over 70 Vehicle Detection
Systems, 38 CCTV cameras and much more.
Contact Group’s Managing Director, Wade Fromberg, said it was exciting to be involved in such a significant project.
“This is something that will be admired for generations and will benefit so many Tasmanians, so it’s great for Tasmanian owned companies to play a role,” he said.
The Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) that Contact Group installed are connected to traffic management centres, enabling information to be collected and communicated on road conditions.
“It’s the latest technology, the first of its kind in Tasmania I believe, which will be a game changer for commuters,” Mr Fromberg said.
Managed by Jade Dwyer the ITS project was a significant undertaking for Contact Group, with tight timeframes, multiple contractors, and plenty of challenges along the way due to project delays outside of our control.
Contact Group worked late hours and went above and beyond to overcome these challenges and ensure the project was delivered on time.
Our work received significant praise from the client, Yunex Traffic.
ITS Technical Lead at Yunex, Rishikesh Prasad, said it was an absolute pleasure working alongside the Contact Group team.
