Contact Group is thrilled to announce our Hobart-based electrician Sam Goldsmith was named NECA’s National Apprentice of the Year (Commercial/Domestic) at the recent awards ceremony in Brisbane.
Sam joined Contact Group in 2021 as a mature-age apprentice and has demonstrated exceptional dedication to his training, excelling across major projects including the Hobart Youth Foyer, Bridgewater Bridge and IMAS Taroona.
Contact Group’s General Manager, Dion Frame, said Sam is an incredibly deserving winner, and it was fantastic to see him recognised on the national stage.
“Sam has consistently shown a level of maturity, professionalism and drive that sets him apart,” Dion said.
“His commitment to learning, his willingness to take on challenges, and the pride he brings to his work make him a standout within our team.”
This award also marks another significant achievement for Contact Group, having now produced the National Apprentice of the Year for two years in a row.
Contact Group’s Managing Director, Wade Fromberg, said that Sam’s achievement reflects the broader culture at Contact Group.
“This award is a testament to the strength of our apprenticeship program and the mentors who support our people every day,” Wade said.
“Producing back-to-back National Apprentices of the Year is something we’re incredibly honoured by, and it reinforces our belief in investing in the next generation of tradespeople.”
Tasmania as a whole shone brightly on the night, with several local businesses earning national recognition including Blackout Contracting, which won Small Business Project of the Year, Prowire Group, which won Industrial Small Project of the Year and Enginuity Power Solutions, which won Commercial Small Project of the Year.
