Contact Group was extremely honoured to win Large Employer of the Year at the 2026 Tasmanian Training Awards.
The Awards are held annually and delivered by Skills Tasmania to celebrate Tasmania’s finest apprentices, trainees, vocational students, teachers and trainers as well as training providers and employers.
The judges commented that for 40 years, Contact Group has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to training, workforce development, and creating opportunities for Tasmanians.
“With more than 200 employees, a strong apprenticeship and traineeship program, and significant investment in professional development, the business has built a culture where learning, growth, and career progression are part of everyday operations.”
“Contact Group demonstrates an innovative and inclusive approach to training. From developing bespoke apprentice training boards and leadership programs to supporting women in trades, mature-age apprentices, and new migrants, Contact Group is helping shape the future workforce of Tasmania.”
“The success of its apprentices, industry award winners, and employees who have progressed into leadership roles is a testament to the company’s commitment to excellence and its people. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement and contribution to the Tasmanian community.”
Contact Group’s Managing Director Wade Fromberg said the Award was a tremendous honour for the family-owned business and he’s very grateful to Skills Tasmania for the recognition.
“Most tradespeople don’t sign up to become teachers but that’s exactly what our staff are… and their patience, passion and commitment to the industry is what has helped build Contact Group into the business it’s become today,” he said.
“We have people in this business who started as Apprentices 30 years ago, who are now managers, and they got there because of the supervisors and tradespeople who taught them — people who took the time to explain something properly, to mentor, to encourage and to support.”
“As we reflect on 40 years in business – that’s what were most proud of. The Tasmanians we’ve trained and the workforce we’ve built. This award is a testament to the strength of our apprenticeship program and the mentors who support our people every day.”
Congratulations to the other Large Employer of the Year finalist Bluestone Mines Tasmania Joint Venture and all the other nominees and award winners.
