Our roots trace back to 1986 when Contact Electrical was established in Launceston. The company's trajectory shifted in 1999 with Bill and Trish Fromberg's acquisition. At that time, Contact Electrical had 12 employees. Bill and Trish spearheaded a remarkable growth phase, and within 30 months, the company's workforce doubled and it had solidified its place in the Launceston electrical market.
Observing the reliance on external vendors for electrical switchboard design and production, Bill made a strategic move in 2001 by acquiring Switchboards Tasmania and integrating it into Contact Electrical. This marked the first of many acquisitions for the company.
In 2005, a longstanding partnership with Housing Tasmania led to a contract in Hobart, prompting the opening of our first office there. The subsequent year saw the acquisition of Dunham Electrical, a Burnie-based electrical contracting firm. This acquisition provided Contact Electrical with the statewide footprint needed to sustain growth and offer comprehensive service contracts across Tasmania.
In 2006 Wade Fromberg joined his father Bill Fromberg full-time in the business, taking over the reins as Managing Director. Over the next decade the company's workforce increased to 130 employees across three branches.
By 2014, the company's leadership recognized the need for a rebranding to accurately represent its evolution into a multifaceted entity extending beyond electrical contracting. This led to the birth of the "Contact Group."
After an 18 month build the Hobart team moved into a state-of-the-art head office at 17 Federal Street North Hobart, a labour of love for Bill Fromberg who project managed the build.
Currently, Contact Group boasts a workforce of around 200 employees across branches in Burnie, Launceston, and Hobart. We cater to the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors across Tasmania with a broad array of building services.
